The course theme for the ETH Game Programming Laboratory in 2019 was "2099". Students worked in small teams to create new games inspired by the theme.

Deep Space Gardening

Deep Space Gardening is a cooperative multiplayer game. Every player has its own character walking on a spherical map. The goal is to grow plants and fulfil the deliveries to the surrounding planets before the time runs out. Plants can be grown by combining berries to craft seeds, and then plant, water and fertilize them until their fully grown. The players need to build a rocket by collecting parts scattered on a maze like platform floating in the sky and disrupt opponents with power-ups while trying not to fall off the edge. Hazmat is a singleplayer 2D shooter. During a meltdown of a nuclear power plant, the player has to make its way to the power plan and turn it off to save the world. The Dark Matters is a cooperative local multiplayer game. Players need to control a spacecraft through outer space while fighting enemies and avoiding asteroids. Every action like shooting the guns, accelerating or repairing the ship needs resources, which requires the players to communcate on how to spend the collected resources. The goal is to travel as far as possible, with the number of enemies and asteroids increasing.
