Game Programming Laboratory 2020

The course theme for the ETH Game Programming Laboratory in 2020 was "The Circus". Students worked in small teams to create new games inspired by the theme.

The Media Circus is a single-player game where you are in charge of a media company. Manage two journalists and send them over a fictional world to report on events. You will not only have to deal with budget but also fame and reputation! Using maps and data on each country to enlighten your decision, you can choose to report an event in different ways: truthfully, which increases your reputation the most; dramatically, which increases your fame but slow your reputation; or to not report at all.

Circus Break is a 3D racing-style game for one to four players playing cooperatively as escaped circus animals riding unicycles through rush hour traffic. MonkeyedUp is a two-player puzzle game with a dark story. Two monkeys, part of the circus, have had enough and on one night decide to leave their abusive home for good. They cannot escape the place alone though – not only will they have to work together but find ways to motivate other animals to help their cause. The monkeys have to avoid the humans at all costs, they should not be seen or heard at all. Every move could make a sound and there are only a few places where a monkey can hide.
