Aseba 1.6 release
The ETH Zurich Game Technology Center is happy to announce the immediate release of the Aseba software version 1.6.
external pageAsebacall_made is an open-source software framework that allows beginners to program robots easily and efficiently. It is the core software technology on which the external pageThymio®call_made educational robot is built. Aseba includes an interactive programming environment, a text programming language, and a visual programming language for the Thymio® robot. Aseba was originally created by Dr. external pageStéphane Magnenatcall_made during his PhD at the Mobots group at external pageEPFLcall_made, and further developed at ETH Zurich with contributions from external pageInriacall_made, EPFL, external pageMobsya associationcall_made, and other individuals. The highlight of this new release is a robot simulator featuring several robots including a virtual Thymio®, allowing children to start learning robotics and programming even when no robot is available. This simulator is based on the external pageEnki open-source robot simulatorcall_made, by the external pagesame author and colleaguescall_made. This release is the result of a collaborative work led by Dr. Magnenat of GTC, with contributions from David Sherman and Thibault Laine from Inria, Michael Bonani, Corentin Jabot, Vincent Becker, and Elisa Bernardoni from the Mobsya association, Yves Piguet from EPFL, and other minor contributions.
